London Walk of Hope
What do I need to bring on the day?
All you really need to bring to the event is yourself and your Walk of Hope t-shirt. We recommend checking the weather forecast ahead of time and ensuring you are wearing suitable footwear and clothing on the day.
What are the timings of the event?
Registration opens at 10:00am, and the walk will start at 11:30am.
Will there be toilets on site?
Yes, there will be port-a-loos at the event site.
Can I bring my dog?
Yes, dogs are welcome to join, just please keep them on the lead.
Will refreshments be provided?
Yes, there will be food stalls when you can purchase food.
Will there be First Aiders available?
Yes – we will have qualified First Aiders at this event.
Will I receive a medal at the event?
Yes, everyone who completes our Walk of Hope will receive a medal at the end of the event.
Can I volunteer at the event?
Absolutely! Please email walkofhope@braintumourresearch.org to enquire.
What happens if I can no longer take part in the event?
Please let our Fundraising team know by contacting your friendly Community Fundraiser or by emailing walkofhope@braintumourresearch.org.
If you have already opened a JustGiving fundraising page you can choose to keep this open and continue to collect donations or close it if you would prefer.
Will there be spare back signs available?
Yes, we will have spare “I’m walking for…” and “I’m walking in memory of…” back signs at the event. Please remember to bring your own safety pins to attach these to your t-shirt.
Will you take card payments?
Yes – we will have a card machine to take payments on the day.
Luton Walk of Hope
What do I need to bring on the day?
All you really need to bring to the event is yourself and your Walk of Hope t-shirt. We recommend checking the weather forecast ahead of time and ensuring you are wearing suitable footwear and clothing on the day.
What are the timings of the event?
Registration opens at 1:30pm at the Bandstand in Wardown Park. Please ensure you arrive on time. The Walk of Hope will start promptly at 2pm.
Is there parking and are there other transport options?
There are two car parks situated in front of the Wardown Park Museum (accessed from New Bedford Road) and by the tennis courts of the park (accessed from Old Bedford Road).
There are also several parking bays along Old Bedford Road and parking can also be found in local residential streets surrounding the park. However, we advise wherever possible to please walk, jog, cycle or use public transport when attending the event. If you do have to drive, please consider car-sharing to reduce our impact on both the environment and other park users.
Please also watch out for other park users when arriving and leaving. Parking may be limited so try to arrive early.
By Bus
Wardown Park is well served by several local bus routes. Arriva No 24 and 25 (see the Arriva website for timetables) and Centrebus No 231 (see the Centrebuswebsite for timetable).
By foot
The park is a short walk from Luton town centre. It is 1km (15-minute walk) from the train station. There are several bus routes that stop outside the entrances to the park on Old Bedford Road and New Bedford Road, all of which are less than a five-minute walk from the start and finish lines.
By road
The park is located on the A6, which connects Bedford in the north. If travelling via the M1, take the junction for Luton Airport, join the A505 and then follow the A6.
Will there be toilets on site?
Walkers are permitted to use the toilets available at the Luton Town and Indians Cricket Club behind the museum.
Can I bring my dog?
Yes. Dogs are welcome to join our walk but must be kept on a short lead at all times.
Will refreshments be provided?
The Wardown Park Kiosk will be open and they are also providing an ice cream van. The Kiosk is very kindly making a donation to Brain Tumour Research.
Sweets, cakes and bottles of water will also be available on the day for a small donation.
Please bring some extra pennies to enjoy refreshments before or after your walk and don’t worry if you forget as we will also be able to take card payments.
Will there be First Aiders available?
Yes, there will be qualified First Aiders at the event.
Will I receive a medal at the event?
Yes, everyone who completes our Walk of Hope will receive a medal at the end of the event.
Can I volunteer at the event?

How fit do I need to be?
Walk of Hope is not a timed or competitive event so there is no requirement for a minimum
fitness level to be able to complete the walk.
What happens if I can no longer take part in the event?

Motherwell Walk of Hope
What do I need to bring on the day?
All you really need to bring to the event is yourself and your Walk of Hope t-shirt. We recommend checking the weather forecast ahead of time and ensuring you are wearing suitable footwear and clothing on the day.
What are the timings of the event?
Registration for our Walk of Hope will open at 9:30am. The walk will start at 10:30am.
Is there parking and are there other transport options?
There is free onsite parking at Strathclyde Country Park.
There are also multiple bus routes which stop nearby the park or you can travel by train and the station is a short walk from the park. Please see below for more details.

A variety of refreshments including sweet treats and drinks will be available. There
is also a cafe inside the rowing club.
What other activities are taking place on the day?
We are pleased to host a variety of stalls at our event, including temporary tattoos, face painters and a raffle including some amazing prizes from some of Scotland best known brands.
Will there be First Aiders available?
Yes – we will have qualified First Aiders at this event.
Will I receive a medal at the event?
Yes, everyone who completes our Walk of Hope will receive a medal at the end of the
event.

Elvaston Castle Walk of Hope
What do I need to bring on the day?

What are the timings of the event?
Registration for our Walk of Hope will open from 10am. The walk will start at 11am
Is there parking and are there other transport options?
Yes, there is free parking available on the event showground at the Event Village. Pay-and-display options are also available in the main car park
Will there be toilets on site?
Yes – toilets are available in the main car park a short walk from the event village.
Can I bring my dog?
Yes. Dogs are welcome to join our walk but must be kept on a lead at all times.
Will refreshments be provided?
Refreshments will be available to purchase.
What other activities are taking place on the day?
We’re pleased to offer a variety of food vendors, along with our Brain Tumour Research merchandise and a raffle featuring a host of excellent prizes.
Will there be First Aiders available?
Yes – we will have qualified First Aiders at this event.
Will I receive a medal at the event?
Yes, everyone who completes our Walk of Hope will receive a medal at the end of the event.

Torpoint Walk of Hope
What do I need to bring on the day?
All you really need to bring to the event is yourself and your Walk of Hope t-shirt. We recommend checking the weather forecast ahead of time and ensuring you are wearing suitable footwear and clothing on the day.
What are the timings of the event?
Registration for our Walk of Hope will open from 10am. The walk will start at 11am
Is there parking and are there other transport options?
Yes, pay and display parking is available nearby at the Cremyll Car Park.
Our registration point is also close to the Cremyll bus stop and ferry port, enabling travel from Plymouth through the Cremyll and Barbican Link Ferries and local bus links. . Plymouth Boat Trips will kindly be donating £1 per rider for every walker travelling via the Cremyll Ferry and wearing their pink Walk of Hope t-shirt (cash only).
Will there be toilets on site?
Yes, there are public toilets near our registration point.
Is the walk suitable for pushchairs or wheelchair users?
Part of our Torpoint Walk of Hope route follows the South West Coastal Path and is not suitable for pushchairs or wheelchair users. A much shorter and friendlier route around the immediate estate grounds is available, upon request.
Can I bring my dog?
Yes. Dogs are welcome to join our walk but must be kept on a lead at all times.
Will refreshments be provided?
The Orangery Gatehouse Café is located next to our registration point, where you can purchase a selection of sweet and savoury treats, and hot and cold drinks. The Edgcumbe Arms is also conveniently located nearby.
Will there be First Aiders available?
Yes, we will have qualified First Aiders at this event.
Will I receive a medal at the event?
Yes, everyone who completes our Walk of Hope will receive a medal at the end of the event.
Can I volunteer at the event?
Absolutely! Please email walkofhope@braintumourresearch.org to enquire.
How fit do I need to be?
This is an easy-moderate route with a number of inclines. Walk of Hope is not a timed or competitive event, so you can set your own pace and enjoy the scenic surroundings.
What happens if I can no longer take part in the event?

New Forest
What do I need to bring on the day?
All you really need to bring to the event is yourself and your Walk of Hope t-shirt. We recommend checking the weather forecast ahead of time and ensuring you are wearing suitable footwear and clothing on the day.
What are the timings of the event?
Registration will open at 10am before our Walk of Hope begins at 11am.
Is there parking and are there other transport options?
Yes, pay and display parking is available throughout Lepe Country Park, we recommend you park close to The Lookout Café- here, which is where you will find our registration desk.
Will there be toilets on site?
Yes, there are public toilets near our registration point.
Is the walk suitable for pushchairs or wheelchair users?
Part of the New Forest Walk of Hope route follows the shoreline and some woodland so is not suitable for pushchairs or wheelchair users due to the uneven terrain.
There is also a shorter route available which follows the road and is approximately 2 miles in distance.
Can I bring my dog?
Yes! Dogs on leads are very welcome to join our walk but must be kept on a lead at all times.
Will refreshments be provided?
The Lookout Café is where our registration point is based, you can purchase a selection of sweet and savoury treats, and hot and cold drinks there.
Will there be First Aiders available?
Yes, we will have qualified First Aiders at this event.
Will I receive a medal at the event?
Yes, everyone who completes our Walk of Hope will receive a medal at the end of the event.
