Brain Tumour Awareness Month

Brain Tumour Awareness Month was launched in 2004 by a group of charities that went on to become founding members of Brain Tumour Research. Every March, we lead the way with a packed programme of activities to raise vital awareness and funds to get closer to our vision of finding a cure for all types of brain tumours.

This year, as we celebrate our 15th anniversary, there are
many ways you can get involved during Brain Tumour Awareness Month to bring
hope to the one in three people who knows someone affected by this devastating
disease.

  • Minute’s Silence

On Friday 1st March, at 11am, a minute’s silence will be observed at our four Centres of Excellence. We will also mark this moment of remembrance at our Head Office and online – if you would like to join us via Zoom, please email us

  • #ShineALight

At 7:30pm on Friday 1st March, help #ShineALight for all those affected by brain tumours by lighting a candle and sharing a photo on social media to raise vital awareness.

  • Light up the UK

More than 50 buildings and landmarks lit up for Brain Tumour Awareness Month in 2023, including the famous Blackpool Tower and Liverpool’s Royal Liver Building. Help raise awareness by getting venues close to you lit up in pink and/or yellow. Email us for more information.

  • Wear A Hat Day

Put your hat on for hope, bring together your friends, family and colleagues for a hat-themed fundraising event or challenge and ask for donations for this vital cause. Find out more and register.

  • Leave a legacy

Help transform the future of research into brain tumours by leaving a gift to Brain Tumour Research in your will. To make it easier, we’ve teamed up with Octopus Legacy to provide you with the opportunity to have a simple will written or updated for free. Find out more.

  • Give a regular gift

Help sustain our vital research by setting up a regular donation. You could donate £15 a month or any amount you can give. Every pound adds up to help fund the fight. Set up a regular donation.

  • Sign up for a challenge

Sahara Desert treks, firewalks, skydives, marathons, half marathons, cycle rides, walks and more – we’ve got a challenge to suit everyone. Check out our packed fundraising calendar to register for your favourite(s).

  • Charity of the year

Could your workplace – or that of your friends and family – work for us? Nominate Brain Tumour Research to be your organisation’s charity of the year and unite your colleagues behind a great cause. Find out more.
