Remembering Adam Dilley

Our thoughts are with the family and loved ones of Adam following the sad news of his death on Sunday 10th August, aged 34.

Adam was diagnosed with a glioblastoma in October 2021, when his partner Tasha was seven months pregnant with their first child, Alfie (pictured below with his parents). He underwent surgery, which was filmed as part of the BBC2 series Surgeons: At the Edge of Life, followed by radiotherapy and chemotherapy.

Last year, Adam missed a football match to raise funds for the Charity because he was still in hospital following a second craniotomy after regrowth of his brain tumour. The match was organised by Adam’s work colleagues at GKN Aerospace.

Adam’s family (pictured top centre), including his parents Mark and Wendy, has worked tirelessly, raising more than £21,500 to help bring about better outcomes for brain tumour patients, despite knowing that these would more than likely not come quickly enough for Adam. Among many fundraising activities and challenges, Mark joined in our 11-mile Walk of Hope, in 2022, along the Grand Union Canal in Bedfordshire, having already taken part in 10,000 Steps a Day in February that year. And last year, family members from as far afield as Lancashire, Norfolk and Bedfordshire came together for our London Walk of Hope at the end of September.

Adam’s brother, Graeme (pictured top left with Adam), ran the London Marathon in 2023, with Adam there to cheer him on, raising more than £5,000.

Mark described Adam on Facebook as “a remarkable young man who has battled this terrible disease with the strength and bravery I could only dream of having. We know that his condition was hard to deal with at times, but his love of Tasha and their little boy Alfie was boundless.”

Rest in peace, Adam.
