We are greatly saddened at the tragic news that Max Vardy passed away recently and send heartfelt thoughts and condolences to his loved ones.
Max became a fierce campaigner and dedicated fundraiser, following his diagnosis with a glioblastoma in June 2024, aged 24. His diagnosis came after suffering with headaches which he thought were stress related. He underwent radiotherapy and year-long chemotherapy, but when he learnt in August this year that his tumour had progressed, he decided to focus on spending meaningful time with family and friends. Max married his best friend and long-term partner, Georgie English (pictured above and below with Max) – they met in their first week at university – in an intimate ceremony with close family and friends at his family home in Surrey.
Yesterday, Georgie posted on Instagram: “It is with a broken heart that I share that our beloved Max passed away on 22nd September, at just 25 years old, after living with and bravely battling his brain tumour with immense courage. We are all devastated and it has taken some time to even begin sharing this news.”

Georgie also spoke about Max’s “humour, kindness and fierce determination”, which inspired so many to support his fundraising for Brain Tumour Research – incredibly, he raised almost £60,000 through challenges including 99 Miles in November, themed nights and more.
Max also launched the Instagram page @maxvardybraincancer to raise awareness and call for greater Government investment in research into brain tumours.
