Employees of the specialist land and environmental consultancy Dalcour Maclaren have completed an epic 40-mile challenge from their Gloucestershire office to their head office in Oxfordshire.
The endurance-testing event was part of Dalcour Maclaren’s wider commitment to support Brain Tumour Research throughout 2025 and beyond, after the Charity was selected as its official charity partner. A total of 12 colleagues set off at 2am from Cirencester and arrived in Bicester at 10am, including apprentice surveyor Ollie Shute, who said: “I’ve been training for the past two to three months, and completing this challenge means a great deal to me.
“The physical pain we endured is nothing compared to what people living with brain tumours face every day. Our effort was temporary, but the hope of finding a cure could change thousands of lives. That’s why it was absolutely worth it.”
The ultra-marathon has raised more than £1,600 for sustainable research into brain tumours.

With more than 500 employees across 20 offices in the UK and Republic of Ireland, Dalcour Maclaren is taking part in a variety of fundraising and awareness events, including our flagship Wear A Hat Day which took place in March, and the TCS London Marathon 2026.
The partnership is inspired by those in the company whose lives have been directly affected by brain tumours. Sam, a 31-year-old senior business support coordinator, nominated the charity after losing her mother to a glioblastoma in 2020. Dalcour Maclaren’s connection to our shared cause also comes from Vicki, a surveyor, who was diagnosed with an acoustic neuroma in 2019.
Vicki said: “I now live with tinnitus and dry eye, and have lost all hearing in my right ear. But I’m grateful, it could have been much worse. This partnership is such an important way to shine a light on brain tumours and the lack of funding for research.
“I’m proud to be part of a team that’s taking real action to support the brain tumour community.”
Our CEO Dan Knowles, who presented the team with medals at the finish line, said: “It’s incredibly inspiring to see the team at Dalcour Maclaren go above and beyond in their commitment to our cause. Taking on an ultra-marathon is no small feat, and their determination reflects the urgency and passion we need to drive progress in brain tumour research. Every mile they ran helped shine a light on a disease that is too often overlooked. We’re so grateful for their energy, dedication and support.”
