Hundreds of supporters will today begin their 200k in May Your Way journey to fund vital research and ensure better outcomes for brain tumour patients.
Among those going the distance in our latest challenge is Debra Hope from Ryhope in Sunderland. She lost her beloved dad, Ron Hope, to a glioblastoma just 15 months after his diagnosis, and is taking part in the challenge for the fourth time, to help us get closer to a cure.
Debra (pictured below with Ron and her mum, Cris) said: “I’m doing this for my dad, and for every family going through the nightmare of a brain tumour diagnosis. I know he’d be so proud because he always was of anything I did – I miss hearing that infinite belief from him so much. This challenge isn’t just about the distance; it’s about raising awareness and helping fund the research that might one day stop another family from going through what we did.”
Debra, who regularly fundraises for Brain Tumour Research by placing collection boxes in local shops, is now walking, running and cycling throughout the month of May in order to hit her 200k target.
And it’s not too late for you to take part. Simply join our Facebook Group to get started, or sign up online here and get moving in any way you wish to help find a cure.
When you register to take part and set up your fundraising page, you’ll receive a FREE emoji t-shirt, printed tracker and fundraising pack. Once your donations hit £50, you’ll also receive a FREE baseball cap. Raise £137 or more – 5% of the cost of a day’s research at a Brain Tumour Research Centre of Excellence – and you’ll earn a special medal, too, to commemorate all you have achieved.
We wish Debra and all those taking part in 200k in May Your Way the best of luck!
