Route to Research 2025
Are you ready to go the distance to make a difference?
Take on the 676-mile journey between each of our Research Centres of Excellence in this brand-new virtual challenge. No matter where you are in the country, and whatever your commitments, you can join in.
Simply plot your progress on the digital map and meet those milestones as you arrive at each of our inspiring Centres.

You can walk, run, cycle or swim to cover the distance in any way you want, and, if you prefer, team up with family and friends to share the miles. Best of all? You have the glorious months of May, June and July to complete your challenge, making the most of the summer sun while helping to find a cure.

Where your challenge will take you:
Your first stop is our Centre at the University of Plymouth, after which you’ll travel to The Institute of Cancer Research in Sutton. From there, head to Imperial College London, before travelling onwards to Queen Mary University of London. Then it’s north to Nottingham, where we have ambitions to open our sixth Centre. Finally, it’s onwards to our Scottish Centre – first stop Glasgow – before your epic journey’s end in Edinburgh.
Take on Route to Research and you’ll know you’re going the distance to make a difference and bringing hope to the one in three people in the UK who knows someone affected by a brain tumour.
Here are a few ways to meet those milestones…
Saddle up and complete a daily cycle of 7.4 miles a day
Commmit to jogging 52.3 miles each week – or halve the distance and double the fun with a friend
Make a lunchtime stroll part of your weekday routine, then head out on a weekend hike to hit that weekly target
Tally up the miles on the treadmill while bingeing on your favourite boxset
Sign up and pay your £10 registration fee, to receive a Fighting Force t-shirt. And raise £274 or more in donations, and we’ll award you with a special medal, too. This amount represents 10% of the cost of a day’s research at a Brain Tumour Research Centre of Excellence.
You can collect offline donations and pay them in via the offline sponsorship form, which you can download here, or you can pay them in online here.
