A collection of bespoke hats, designed by leading milliners, has gone on sale in support of Brain Tumour Research.
Each of the 19 unique headpieces included in the range were inspired by winning horses of the illustrious double race the 2000 Guineas and the Derby. They are set to be on display at Newmarket Rowley Mile and Epsom Downs Racecourse in May and June.
Including pieces designed by Rachel Trevor Morgan (modelled above left by racing star Saffie Osborne) and Stephen Jones OBE (modelled above right by TV presenter Ella McNeill), the Gallops of Glory hat sale is part of the years-long partnership between The Jockey Club, The British Hat Guild and Brain Tumour Research.
Ahead of its release, the exclusive range was modelled by Saffie and Rachel alongside Emily Hawthorn (below left, modelling Bee Smith Millinery’s hat), the widow of brain tumour patient Mike Hawthorn, and his sister, also named Emily (below right, modelling Fernanda Lewis).
After Mike’s death from a meningioma in 2022, Emily and Emily have campaigned and fundraised passionately for a cure, with their participation in the hat sale the latest of their efforts to stop brain tumours devastating lives.
The Gallops of Glory collection will be on display and available for purchase at The Betfred Guineas Festival at Newmarket Rowley Mile from 2ⁿᵈ to 4ᵗʰ May and The Betfred Derby festival at Epsom Downs Racecourse from 6ᵗʰ to 7ᵗʰ June.
