Charles motors on in the fight to find a cure

Our newest Ambassador, actor Charles Dale, has now visited more than 50 of the 100 motorcycle cafés that pepper the route of his 'Shaun’s TT 100 challenge', a month-long ride across England and Wales raising money for Brain Tumour Research and the brain injury association Headway.

Inspired by friends whose lives have been affected by a brain tumour, and the loss of his best friend Shaun to a brain injury, Charles set out from Tenby on Monday 19th May and his epic challenge is now well underway.

And the support has been overwhelming, with more than £5,000 raised to date, 100,000-plus views on social media where Charles has been documenting his adventure daily – and coverage in national media, including Motorcycle News (MCN), bringing much-needed awareness to our cause.

Along the way, Charles has been joined by fellow bikers, Brain Tumour Research supporters and famous faces too, including TV chef Si King of The Hairy Bikers (pictured with Charles below and our Community Fundraiser for the North East, Erin Wright). He made a pitstop to the presenters Sunderland café, PROPA!, last Thursday (22nd), where he received a hero’s welcome and some hearty sustenance for his onward journey – plus a generous donation.

Despite sat nav issues on remote country roads, being bitten by a dog, his bike slipping out from underneath him at one point and 45mph crosswinds, Charles has enjoyed every moment of the challenge so far. He is incredibly thankful to everyone for their support and generosity, from café owners to members of the biking, brain injury and brain tumour communities.

Charles said: What started out as an idea with me, a motorbike and a bucket, honouring the memory of my dearest friend, has certainly grown arms, legs, two wheels and plenty of high-vis! It's very important and exciting for me to be working in collaboration with Headway and Brain Tumour Research. This is about raising awareness and vital funds for those affected by brain trauma and brain tumours.

This motorbike challenge is all about people and I have been honoured to meet the most wonderful human beings; their generosity, emotional stories and support is breathtakingAs an avid biker, there is nothing quite like the biking community for its welcome and support. And I have seen the most stunning scenery that the UK has to offer. It’s like Shaun is with me, whispering in my ear, 'Mate, let me show you some of the most beautiful places on the road.

You can discover where Charles is heading next by visiting his Givestar page, where you can also make your own donation to the cause.
