All you really need to bring to the event is yourself and your Walk of Hope t-shirt. We recommend checking the weather forecast ahead of time and ensuring you are wearing suitable footwear and clothing on the day.

Registration opens at 1:30pm at the Bandstand in Wardown Park. Please ensure you arrive on time. The Walk of Hope will start promptly at 2pm.

There are two car parks situated in front of the Wardown Park Museum (accessed from New Bedford Road) and by the tennis courts of the park (accessed from Old Bedford Road).

There are also several parking bays along Old Bedford Road and parking can also be found in local residential streets surrounding the park. However, we advise wherever possible to please walk, jog, cycle or use public transport when attending the event. If you do have to drive, please consider car-sharing to reduce our impact on both the environment and other park users.

Please also watch out for other park users when arriving and leaving. Parking may be limited so try to arrive early.

By Bus

Wardown Park is well served by several local bus routes. Arriva No 24 and 25 (see the Arriva website for timetables) and Centrebus No 231 (see the Centrebuswebsite for timetable).

 By foot

The park is a short walk from Luton town centre. It is 1km (15-minute walk) from the train station. There are several bus routes that stop outside the entrances to the park on Old Bedford Road and New Bedford Road, all of which are less than a five-minute walk from the start and finish lines.

By road

The park is located on the A6, which connects Bedford in the north. If travelling via the M1, take the junction for Luton Airport, join the A505 and then follow the A6.

Walkers are permitted to use the toilets available at the Luton Town and Indians Cricket Club behind the museum.

Yes. Dogs are welcome to join our walk but must be kept on a short lead at all times.

The Wardown Park Kiosk will be open and they are also providing an ice cream van. The Kiosk is very kindly making a donation to Brain Tumour Research.

Sweets, cakes and bottles of water will also be available on the day for a small donation.

Please bring some extra pennies to enjoy refreshments before or after your walk and don’t worry if you forget as we will also be able to take card payments.

Yes, there will be qualified First Aiders at the event.

Yes, everyone who completes our Walk of Hope will receive a medal at the end of the event. 

Absolutely! Please email walkofhope@braintumourresearch.org to enquire. 

Walk of Hope is not a timed or competitive event so there is no requirement for a minimum
fitness level to be able to complete the walk.

If you have already opened a JustGiving fundraising page you can choose to keep this open and continue to collect donations or close it if you would prefer.  

Yes, we will have spare “I’m walking for…” and “I’m walking in memory of…” back signs at the event. Please remember to bring your own safety pins to attach these to your t-shirt.

Yes, we will be able to take card payments on the day.
