With just a few days to go until we don our favourite festive hats for Wear A Christmas Hat Day, we’re sharing just a handful of the events supporters across the UK have planned.
In Kent, Wendy Lambourne is organising a festive fundraiser in recognition of her daughter Melissa Ross’ brain tumour journey. The festive fundraiser will see up to 50 of Wendy’s colleagues at Folkestone Magistrate’s Court donate in exchange for donning their silly hats.
Darren Jonez is taking part in memory of his daughter Courtney who died in 2012 after a lifelong battle with an ependymoma from the age of 18 months. He and his son are wearing their hats for the whole month to raise awareness in Beaumaris in Anglesey.
Ilda has already hosted her event at work. She said: “I would like to thank all my colleagues in the immigration department at Kingsley Napley (pictured), who took part in the Wear A Christmas Hat Day for Brain Tumour Research. It was a lot of fun, especially because we were able to ‘dress up’ our colleague, Shahirur Choudhury’s beard. We’ve raised £560 so far.”
Pupils at St Joseph’s Catholic and Anglican High School in Wrexham will enjoy a variety of hat-related activities including a ‘mad hatters’ bake sale, a hat character quiz and a lunchtime ‘hat-walk’.
This December, Joshua Cullen is marking one year since he was diagnosed with a glioblastoma multiforme (GBM). He is wearing his Christmas hat at home with mum Magdi to support Brain Tumour Research.
Wear A Christmas Hat Day takes place this Friday 17th December. This is your last chance to register and join the hattastic festive fun and raise vital funds to help find a cure for brain tumours. Register online here.
