A supporter who lost his mum to a brain tumour is joining our Walk of Hope in her memory.
Daniel Powell will be amongst those taking part in our 5km Walk of Hope through Woodbank Park in Stockport, Greater Manchester, on Saturday 24th September. He is walking inspired by his mum Jennifer who died from a glioblastoma (GBM) in July.
Jennifer had an awake craniotomy in December 2019, which removed around 80% of the tumour. In January, she began a six-week course of radiotherapy, followed by six months of chemotherapy. Sadly, an MRI scan in May 2022 showed there had been ‘significant regrowth’ and Jennifer was told she had just a few months left to live.
She died at Willow Wood Hospice on 7th July 2022 with her loving husband Paul by her side.
Daniel said: “I always promised Mum that I would raise awareness of this devastating disease because we didn’t have any when she was diagnosed. The low level of funding for brain tumours is appalling so if the money I raise helps just one person avoid going through what we did, then it’s worth it.”
