A woman whose brain tumour diagnosis prompted her to start a family is supporting our Advent Appeal this December.
Vicki Hilborn was first diagnosed with a diffuse astrocytoma in 2017 when she was just 25 years old. Following her diagnosis, Vicki and her husband, Richard, decided to start a family and they welcomed their daughter Aubrey in April 2021. Just 12 weeks after giving birth, Vicki needed brain surgery. She has had a total of five operations.
Earlier this year, Vicki, whose tumour has progressed to a grade 3 anaplastic astrocytoma, had a five-week course of radiotherapy.
Now, she is sharing her story to support our Advent Appeal to raise funds and awareness to help find a cure for brain tumours, and “to make people aware that there is still life to be lived after a brain tumour diagnosis”.
