Today, on the fifth anniversary of his tragic death, we are remembering Frank James Lee.
Named after his father and known affectionately as Little Frank, the schoolboy was just 13 when he was diagnosed with a glioblastoma (GBM) following a bout of nausea and headaches, before having a seizure at home in 2017.
Football mad Frank underwent two surgeries followed by radiotherapy and chemotherapy, but the tumour returned and it sadly claimed the 15 year old’s life on 22nd July 2019.
Today, on World Brain Day, his father, Frank, 44, from Royal Wootton Bassett, said: “Frank was my best mate and he should be here with us now. This time of year is always difficult, thinking about the young man he would have grown up to be. We all miss him so much.
“Brain tumours are cruel and indiscriminate, they can affect anyone at any age. I’ll keep pushing myself to raise awareness and raise money for research to stop other families suffering as we have."
Frank began running to deal with his grief after losing the eldest of his four children. Together with a group of family members calling themselves ‘Team Breed’, Frank has completed three marathons, raising £30,000. They are set to take on three more marathons in Berlin, Chicago and New York from September.
Our thoughts are with Frank’s parents, his three younger sisters and everyone who knew and loved him, today.
