The fourth oral evidence session of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Brain Tumours (APPGBT) inquiry ‘Pathway to a Cure – breaking down the barriers’ was held virtually today.
Previous sessions have heard witnesses representing Government funders, those involved in clinical brain tumour research and those with a lab-based focus. Today, the panel members heard from the paediatric brain tumour community.
A wide range of topics was discussed ranging from the accessing and availability of clinical trials to brain injury and rehabilitation. The witnesses bought to the meeting more than 90 years of experience in the field and panel members left the meeting with a far greater understanding of the complexities surrounding this area, and in no doubt that professionalism and passion go hand in hand when it comes to care and to the way forward.
The next inquiry session, to be held in a month’s time, will focus on the role industry has and could have.
The inquiry report will be delivered in early 2023.
