A 15-strong team threw themselves out of a plane at the weekend in memory of a teenager who died from a brain tumour.
Nikki Treharne (pictured) and a group of friends and family jumped from 15,000ft above Old Sarum Airfield in Salisbury on Saturday. They braved the drop to raise funds for Brain Tumour Research in memory of Nikki’s son, Ethan, who died from a glioblastoma (GBM) on 26th November 2021, at the age of just 17.
Nikki jumped with Ethan’s ashes strapped to her chest. She said: “It was an insane experience, but my instructor, Hank, was great. He said what a special day it was, and that when we all went up there we would be closer to Ethan.
“It really felt like he was there with us - even though he’s always with me really.”
The team has raised more than £6,000 to help find a cure inspired by Ethan.
“Our focus has changed to campaigning and fundraising towards better treatment options and eventually a cure for brain tumours so we can rewrite the future of people diagnosed with the disease,” Nikki added.
