At Prime Minister’s questions today, Derek Thomas MP, Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Brain Tumours (APPGBT), spoke about Brain Tumour Awareness Month and of the need for brain tumour research funding to match that of other forms of cancer. He drew the PM’s attention to the #BrainTumourPetition hosted on our website and our call for parity of research funding. Whilst mentioning the 100,000 signatures he asked if he could present this petition to the PM when current restrictions allow. Boris Johnson said that he would “look forward” to that meeting.
Another milestone has been reached – the Chair of the APPG will personally present a report on our petition to the Prime Minister. A huge achievement by our community that serves to demonstrate our collective power when we work together.
Our Chief Executive Sue Farrington Smith MBE, said: “We are blessed to have Derek as an advocate. He understands the passion that lays behind each and every signature on the petition and now he will be working with us to ensure our Petition Report and the recommendations within are acted upon. Another big day but there is still so much to do, and we should all be proud of the Prime Minister’s response”
