A woman whose meningioma brain tumour was discovered after a routine eye test has completed 88 Squats a Day in July in hopes of funding a cure.
Elizabeth Craig, 55, was sent for an MRI scan in January 2022 after her optician noticed abnormalities. The test found a growth, and she was diagnosed with a meningioma. Unbelievably, Elizabeth, who is married to Paul (pictured), was also diagnosed with breast cancer in May of that same year.
She said: “Getting two diagnoses like that, so close together, was a lot to process. It felt like my life was spiralling.
“Until it happened to me, I didn’t realise how underfunded research into brain tumours is, even though they kill more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer.
“I want to do what I can to raise awareness and help make a difference. Even though I’m still recovering, I feel ready to give something back.”

Following a complex nine-hour procedure to remove her tumour, Elizabeth bravely took on the 88 Squats a Day in July challenge in order to raise funds for Brain Tumour Research. Across this month, she has been squatting towards a total of 2,740 squats – the same number that it costs in pounds to fund a single day of research at our Centres of Excellence.
We would like to thank Elizabeth and all of our other incredible supporters who took on this enormous challenge event. Without the generosity and commitment of our community, we would not be able to support sustainable research into finding a cure for all types of brain tumours.
Donate to help fund the fight against brain tumours and give hope to our amazing community. Or why not get in gear and join us for our next challenge event and Cycle 274 Miles in August?
