The letter calls on Rt Hon Liz Truss and Rt Hon Rishi Sunak to keep the Party’s 2019 manifesto pledge to improve cancer survival rates by supporting the NHS and improving its performance.
More than 11,000 people are diagnosed with a primary brain tumour in the UK each year, and many are let down by poor outcomes. To see an improvement, with fewer deaths from brain tumours, considerably more investment is needed.
We are also urging the Government to set out its 10-Year Cancer Plan, which was originally due to be published this July. The plan needs to be fit for the future, visionary, but also achievable, and must provide a roadmap in solving cancer staff shortages.
The One Cancer Voice coalition believes that “leadership and commitment on this issue could make a huge difference in driving forward the change patients, practitioners and researchers need to deliver on the promised world leading cancer outcomes for families in this country.”
