Fin’s Story

Fin was just 11 years old when he passed away, 17 months after his diagnosis with a glioblastoma. He had endured surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy, and took part in trials to try to prolong his life.

Incredibly, Fin dedicated himself to fundraising during his illness, raising more than £100,000 for Brain Tumour Research and the Birmingham Children’s Hospital.

Continuing Fin’s legacy, his parents Penny and Wayne have tirelessly campaigned and fundraised to help bring about better outcomes for people affected by brain tumours.

Sam’s Story

Father-of-two Sam was struck down by a seizure whilst on the Tube in 2020. It led to the discovery of a glioma and Sam has since undergone a biopsy, radiotherapy and chemotherapy. In July 2025, he celebrated his 40th birthday – a milestone he feared he may not see.

Sam has supported Brain Tumour Research since his diagnosis, taking part in multiple fundraising campaigns, sharing his story and campaigning alongside us to increase the national investment in research. He joined us as a Supporter Ambassador in 2023 and is the embodiment of the hope that drives our fight to find a cure.

One in three people knows someone affected by a brain tumour. This devastating disease is indiscriminate; it can affect anyone at any age. Treatments are limited and for many types there is no cure. But hope lies in research and your support is helping us change the story for the thousands of families affected.

Since the Charity was founded in 2009, we have achieved so much together:

• Contributing £79.2 million to the national investment in research into brain tumours through our funding and leveraged funding by our Centres of Excellence

• Awarding £37.5 million directly to research

• Supporting 315 research personnel

• Building campaigning momentum, putting brain tumours on the national political agenda and successfully campaigning to unlock millions of pounds promised for research

• Reaching millions through your inspiring stories and raising crucial awareness
