Our thoughts are with all those experiencing the pain of missing loved ones this Christmas, like the Dundee family of Sara Craighead, as well as with every family affected by a brain tumour diagnosis.
Ian and his parents Syd and Helen Craighead (brother and parents of Sara) have adorned their house with festive lights and decorations to raise funds for the Charity. Over the past four years they have raised an incredible total of nearly £7,000 in tribute to Sara, who died at the age of 35.
Sara (pictured above with Ian) was diagnosed with a brain tumour in 2002 after an eye test revealed a problem with her right eye. Despite undergoing multiple surgeries and radiotherapy, the tumour returned and eventually spread to her spine, leaving her with no further treatment options. Sara died at home on 12th April 2013, surrounded by her loving family.
Ian said: “Sara always loved Christmas, from singing in the local choir to admiring festive lights. This display is a fitting way to bring joy to others in her memory. We started with just a few lights, but it grew each year because people loved it so much. We even built a display on the drive to hold more. All of this is to raise awareness of this devastating disease and much-needed funds for research. Seeing the smiles they bring makes it all worthwhile.”
