More radiotherapy for Kyle as tumour regrows

1 min read

Our thoughts are with Kyle Morrison and his family today as they prepare for another round of radiotherapy.

The eight-year-old was diagnosed with a diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma late last year. He has already undergone gruelling treatment and, faced with the bleak prognosis of just a few months, his family are crowdfunding to get him on a clinical trial first in Germany and then, they hope in the US.

They estimate they will need around £300,000 and, sadly, their fundraising remains a long way short of this goal, affected in part by the coronavirus pandemic which has caused widespread disruption to the economy and the way we live our lives.

Mum Vicki said: “It seems so cruel that we are having to spend what are likely to be his last weeks and months in lockdown when really we should have been able to make the most of this precious time with our close family and friends.

“Kyle had been doing so well and it was only in the last few days that he became unwell again and an MRI scan showed the tumour was growing. It is so devastating to think that he has already been through radiotherapy once.”
