Farewell and thank you to our Chief Executive

This week, we gathered together to mark Sue’s retirement and to reflect on her role in driving momentous change in raising awareness of brain tumours, the need for research and, ultimately, find a cure.

No one who knows Sue would ever question her ambition, tenacity and commitment to finding a cure, and the driving factor in all of this has been her compassion and overriding desire to help people. Her passion was born from the loss of her beloved niece, Alison Phelan, in whose name so much has been achieved.

As Sue takes up her role as a Trustee of the charity from 1st July, our Deputy Chief Executive and Director of Finance and Operations, Ashley Bailey, will take over the reins until a permanent Chief Executive is appointed.

Wendy Fulcher, our Chair of Trustees, said: “In the 20 years that we have stood together fighting to improve options and outcomes for those diagnosed with a brain tumour and their families, Sue has been the staunchest of allies and the fiercest of campaigners.

“Her energy levels are legendary and her leadership and management of the growth of Brain Tumour Research show just what passion and drive can achieve. I am proud of her legacy and her trailblazing work.”

In lieu of retirement gifts, Sue has asked that donations be made to her JustGiving page in support of the charity: https://www.justgiving.com/page/sue-farrington-smith-1682453902610
