As we look forward to the prospect of coming out of lockdown, we’re excited to launch a great new campaign: Wear A Hat Day with Flowers.
And BBC TV’s Instant Gardener, Danny Clarke, who lost his own sister to the disease, is urging people to sign up, get involved, have fun and raise much-needed funds for Brain Tumour Research.
Danny said: “I had already lost two siblings and a parent in quick succession when Margot became ill. We witnessed her decline over two years following her glioblastoma multiforme diagnosis before she died aged 52, leaving a husband and young daughter.
“Every now and again we might get a glimpse of the old Margot but, mostly, it was like talking to a child. It struck me that seeing my dad and other siblings die had been very different. Brain tumours steal the person long before their body finally gives up.”
Now we’re calling for your support; we’re combining our annual Wear A Flower Week with the return of our much-loved Wear A Hat Day. Starting on Monday 15 June, and coinciding with British Flowers Week, this is going to be a great week-long celebration of all things floral building up to the visually spectacular and brilliant Wear A Hat Day with Flowers on Friday 19 June.
It will be a great opportunity to have some fun with a floral hatty occasion wherever you are and whoever you’re with – in person or virtually.
