As a Public Collections Volunteer, you will play a crucial role in our fundraising efforts, helping to raise vital funds and awareness for Brain Tumour Research. You’ll be engaging with the public at high-traffic locations, collecting donations with a collection bucket and card machine, and speaking to as many people as possible to support our cause.
What you will do:
As a Public Collections Volunteer, your responsibilities will include:
- Standing outside supermarkets, shopping centres, train stations, and other public venues with a collection bucket and credit card terminal, following the guidance of Brain Tumour Research staff
- Engaging with the public in a friendly and respectful manner to ask for donations
- Raising awareness about Brain Tumour Research and our vision to find a cure for all types of brain tumours
- Wearing provided identification to signify your role as an authorised collector and volunteer for Brain Tumour Research
- Registering as a collector at the venue before your shift
- Adhering to Brain Tumour Research guidelines to ensure safety and security
- Handing over collected funds to the designated person at the end of your shift
- Ensuring you do not obstruct customers or staff during your collection
- Accepting rejection gracefully and without taking it personally
Who we are looking for:
We are seeking passionate and reliable individuals who are ready to engage with the public. Ideally, you will have:
- A professional and smart appearance
- A polite and friendly manner to encourage positive interactions
- Strong verbal communication skills to engage effectively with the community
- Commitment to at least four hours per collection
- Reliability and punctuality
Desirable:
- Previous experience in fundraising through bucket collections
- Ability to handle rejection from potential donors
