Brain tumour research is entering a new era, driven by advances in precision medicine, genomics, digital pathology, imaging, and AI-enabled analysis. Realising this potential depends on access to high-quality brain tumour tissue.
Brain Tumour Research has commissioned Research Consulting to undertake a landscape review of the current demands and requirements placed on neuropathological tissue biobanks by the brain tumour research community in the UK.
The review aims to provide a comprehensive assessment of the existing neuropathological tissue biobanking landscape in the UK, build an understanding of the barriers that currently limit optimal biobanking and explore the research community’s potential future requirements.
As part of our Research Strategy, From Discovery to a Cure: Our Research Strategy 2026–2031, Brain Tumour Research is committed to strengthening existing partnerships and supporting the essential tools and research infrastructure needed to accelerate and drive discovery. This review will help us to achieve this.
Over the coming months, Research Consulting will work with the brain tumour community to develop evidence-based, practical recommendations for strengthening neuropathological tissue biobanking to meet the needs of research today and in the future.
