Molly Heffer and her mum Kerry Walker are fundraising in support of Molly’s stepdad, Scott Walker, following his diagnosis with an inoperable and potentially aggressive brain tumour.
The pair will take part in our flagship Walk of Hope at Chatsworth on Saturday 26th September, joining hundreds of supporters in their pink charity t-shirts to raise awareness and funds for the fight against brain tumours.
Molly said: “Scott has been part of our family for 10 years and he’s like a bonus dad to me. He’s amazing and is always there when I need him.”
Scott first began experiencing tingling and weakness in his arm in 2024. Over time, these symptoms worsened and spread to his leg. In January this year, an MRI scan revealed a brain tumour but, because of its location, a biopsy was not possible.
As Scott prepared to start six weeks of radiotherapy, a further MRI scan revealed that the tumour was more widespread than initially thought. His medical team then decided to treat it as a grade 4 midline glioma.
Molly (pictured above right with Scott and mum Kerry) continued: “Although we knew something wasn’t right, the diagnosis came as a complete shock.
“They’re treating it for the worst but hoping for the best. The uncertainty about what the future holds has actually been harder to come to terms with than the original brain tumour diagnosis.”
