Broadcaster Glenn Campbell is inviting people across the UK to join his Brain Power Munro Challenge this August.
The Scottish journalist has inspired more than £500,000 in fundraising Brain Tumour Research since his oligodendroglioma diagnosis in the summer of 2023. Those funds are supporting the Scottish Brain Tumour Research Centre of Excellence, which is dedicated to advancing the development of new treatments for glioblastoma, with the aim of producing the evidence required to rapidly progress these treatments into clinical trials.
Following his diagnosis, Glenn began a personal challenge to climb all 282 Munros by the end of 2028, conquering his first – Ben Chonzie in Perthshire – just weeks after undergoing emergency surgery to remove as much of the tumour as possible.
Now, for a second year, he’s inviting people across the UK to join his Brain Power Munro Challenge and reach a summit near them on Saturday 8th or Sunday 9th August 2026.
Participants can climb a Munro (a Scottish mountain of at least 3,000 feet or 914 metres) or adapt the challenge to suit their location and abilities. If a Munro is not possible, people can climb another mountain or smaller summit anywhere in the UK, or they can climb a ‘virtual’ Munro (the equivalent of around 6,000 steps) using a staircase.
Last year, the first Brain Power Munro Challenge saw more than 250 people taking part, raising £30,000. Will you get the total climb even higher in 2026?
