Help us continue Captain Sir Tom’s fundraising legacy

1 min read

This May bank holiday, join us in celebrating what would have been Captain Sir Tom’s 101st birthday by completing your own Captain Tom 100 Challenge and raise funds to help find a cure for brain tumours.

Last April, Captain Tom set out to complete 100 laps of his garden before he turned 100 to raise money to thank the NHS heroes working through the COVID-19 pandemic. Setting himself a target of £1,000, he exceeded his expectations and raised an outstanding £38.9 million (including gift aid). His amazing efforts and demonstration of gratitude for key workers captured the hearts of the nation and inspired many others to do their own fundraising.

Inspired by Captain Sir Tom Moore, Brain Tumour Research is joining the nationwide campaign to encourage everyone, of all ages and abilities, to take on their own 100 challenge over the May bank holiday weekend from 30th April to 3rd May.

You can take part however you like. You could follow in Captain Tom’s footsteps and complete 100 laps of your garden or bake 100 sweet treats to sell to family and friends. Set up a quiz night with 100 trivia questions or power through 100 push ups. If you’re feeling creative why not pen a 100-word poem, tell 100 jokes or paint 100 pictures?

You can find more challenge ideas here or you can think up your own.

Once you’ve decided what your challenge will be, set up your JustGiving page and share it with your friends and family. Set yourself a fundraising target of £100 and aim to smash it!

Let’s keep Captain Tom’s fundraising legacy alive and bring hope to brain tumour patients and their families.
