Fundraising in Aid of Brain Tumour Research: Terms & Conditions

Thank you for choosing to support Brain Tumour Research. These terms and conditions apply if you are organising your own fundraising event or activity in aid of Brain Tumour Research (i.e. not participating in one of our official charity-organised events)

Fundraising in Aid of Brain Tumour Research

• By organising a fundraising event or activity, you understand that you are doing so in aid of Brain Tumour Research, and as such you act independently and at your own risk.
• Your event is not organised, run, or controlled by Brain Tumour Research and therefore the charity cannot accept responsibility or liability for any loss, damage, or injury resulting from the event.

Use of Charity Name and Logo

• We have a special “in aid of Brain Tumour Research” logo, wording and fundraising materials which we will supply you and you must use.
• You must not use any other Brain Tumour Research logos without prior written permission.

Legal and Health& Safety Compliance

• It is your responsibility to ensure your fundraising activity complies with all relevant laws and regulations, including health and safety, insurance, food hygiene, and data protection where applicable.
• You must obtain all necessary permissions, licences, and risk assessments (e.g. for raffles, collections, or public events).

Insurance

• Brain Tumour Research cannot provide public liability insurance for your fundraising event. You must make your own insurance arrangements as appropriate for your event.

Handling Funds

• All funds raised must be transferred to Brain Tumour Research promptly and in full. No deductions should be made for personal expenses or fees unless explicitly agreed in writing by the charity in advance.

• You agree to keep accurate records of income and expenditure and to comply with the Fundraising Regulator’s Code of Fundraising Practice.

Protecting the Charity’s Reputation

• As a fundraiser, you agree to conduct yourself in a manner that does not harm the reputation or integrity of Brain Tumour Research.
• The charity reserves the right to request that you cease fundraising if your event or behaviour is deemed inappropriate or contrary to our values.

Children and Vulnerable Participants

• If children or vulnerable people are involved in your fundraising, you must ensure appropriate safeguarding measures are in place, including adult supervision and risk assessments.

Fundraising Event Organised by Brain Tumour Research: Terms & Conditions

These apply when the event is organised and run by Brain Tumour Research, such as an official run, walk, cycle, or virtual event.

Participation and Registration

• Participants must register for the event via Brain Tumour Research’s website and provide accurate, up-to-date information.
• The charity reserves the right to refuse entry or remove participants for safety, health, or behavioural reasons.

Health and Safety

• Participants take part at their own risk and must ensure they are medically fit to do so.
• Brain Tumour Research will take reasonable steps to ensure the safety of the event but cannot accept liability for injury, loss, or damage caused by individual actions, third parties, or circumstances beyond our control.
• Participants must follow all event instructions, signage, and guidance from staff or marshals.

Fundraising Commitment

• If the event includes a fundraising target or minimum sponsorship requirement, this should be met by the date specified
• Any fundraising undertaken must comply with the Fundraising Regulator’s Code of Fundraising Practice.

Cancellation or Changes

• Brain Tumour Research reserves the right to cancel, postpone, or alter the event for safety or operational reasons (e.g. severe weather, public health concerns).

• Where possible, participants will be offered alternative arrangements or refunds (if a fee has been paid).

Photography and Media

• By participating, you consent to being photographed or filmed during the event, and for those images to be used in charity communications and promotional materials.

• If you do not wish to appear in media, please inform a member of staff at the event.

Data Protection 

• Your personal information will be collected, stored, and used in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

• We may contact you about the event and future fundraising opportunities unless you opt out.

Children and Vulnerable Participants

• Children under 18 years old must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

• Participants responsible for vulnerable people must ensure appropriate care is taken throughout the event.

Fundraising in Aid of Brain Tumour Research: Third-Party Events Terms & Conditions 

When an individual takes part in a third-party event (e.g. London Marathon, Great North Run, Manchester Marathon) to raise funds in aid of Brain Tumour Research these terms and conditions apply, in addition to the terms and conditions of that third party event. The event itself is organised and managed by an external event provider, not Brain Tumour Research.

Event Participation and Registration 

• You are responsible for securing your own place in the event, either through the event organiser’s official entry process or via Brain Tumour Research’s charity place allocation process which will be outlined upon registration

• Your participation is subject to the third-party event organiser’s own rules, regulations, and Terms & Conditions. You must ensure you read and comply with these in full.

• Brain Tumour Research is not responsible for event entry, administration, or delivery and cannot be held liable for any issues relating to event organisation.

Health and Safety

• You take part at your own risk and must ensure you are medically fit and adequately trained to participate.

• The third-party organiser is responsible for the health and safety arrangements of the event. Brain Tumour Research accepts no liability for any injury, loss, or damage sustained as a result of participation.

• You must comply with all instructions given by the event organiser, officials, and marshals.

Fundraising Commitment

• By agreeing to fundraise in aid of Brain Tumour Research, you commit to making every effort to achieve the fundraising target (where applicable) by the deadline specified. 

• All funds raised must be donated directly to Brain Tumour Research and cannot be used for personal expenses. 

• All fundraising activity must comply with the Fundraising Regulator’s Code of Fundraising Practice and with any guidance provided by Brain Tumour Research.

Cancellation, Withdrawal, or Event Changes

• If the third-party organiser cancels, postpones, or alters the event, Brain Tumour Research is not responsible for providing compensation, alternative events, or refunds.

• If you withdraw from the event, you should inform both the event organiser and Brain Tumour Research as soon as possible.

• Any registration fees paid directly to Brain Tumour Research for a charity place are non-refundable, unless otherwise specified.

Photography and Media

• The third-party organiser may arrange photography or filming at the event; this will be subject to their own policies.

• Where you provide photographs, stories, or testimonials to Brain Tumour Research, or agree to be photographed/filmed on our behalf, you consent to their use in our communications, media, and promotional materials.

Data Protection

• Your personal information will be handled by Brain Tumour Research in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

• Event organisers may also collect and process your personal data separately in line with their own Privacy Policy, for which Brain Tumour Research is not responsible.

• We may contact you regarding your fundraising and about future opportunities to support us, unless you choose to opt out.

Children and Vulnerable Participants

• If you are registering a child or vulnerable person in a third-party event, you must comply with the entry requirements and age restrictions set by the event organiser.

• You are responsible for ensuring that any child or vulnerable participant in your care is appropriately supervised and supported.
