Welcome to Yorkshire's Brain Tumour Charity

2 min read

Today we are extending a warm welcome to Yorkshire’s Brain Tumour Charity (YBTC) as they have recently joined our family of Member Charities.

Yorkshire’s Brain Tumour Charity offers vital support to patients and their loved ones through welfare peer support services, welfare advice and financial assistance, and one-to-one support and signposting. Families affected by brain tumours enjoy YBTC’s peer support walks which take place across the whole of Yorkshire in beautiful settings and are wheelchair friendly and accessible to all. Added to that they all finish up with a cuppa and a slice of cake, allowing participants to connect with each other.

The charity also invests in local research, with a particular emphasis on seed-funding and innovative projects.

YBTC was originally set up as Andrea’s Gift by colleagues of Yorkshire woman Andrea Key (pictured below) – including our National Events Manager Carol Robertson who has shared Andrea’s story on our website. Andrea died from an aggressive brain tumour in May 2002.

Working collaboratively with our Member Charities adds greater weight to our campaigning action and supports our work to build a game-changing network of Centres of Excellence across the UK. To find out about becoming a Member Charity, email anju.chadha-mclean@braintumourresearch.org
