A man who returned to running as a way of coping with his mum’s brain cancer death has embarked on a running challenge that will see him cover 2,740km this year, to raise vital funds for Brain Tumour Research.
Our Trustee Jack Goodwin will take on the mighty six-hour Rasselbock Run in Sherwood Pines, Nottinghamshire, tomorrow (13th January), having already completed a 27.40km route around Caldecotte Lake in Milton Keynes last week.
The 36-year-old lost his mother, Debbie Goodwin, six months after she was diagnosed with a highly aggressive glioblastoma (GBM), in February 2023. She was 61.
A data insights manager from Milton Keynes, Jack said: “After Mum passed, I found myself running for hours on a treadmill just to get away from my thoughts and feelings.
“She loved running and must have taken part in more than 50 races for charity, so it’s great to know that I’m continuing in her footsteps by raising money and awareness in this way."
Jack’s ambitious ‘megathon’ challenge will see him complete 15 marathons, several ultra-marathons and at least 8km daily, as part of his 2,740km challenge, which symbolises the £2,740 is costs to sponsor a day of research at one of our four Centres of Excellence.
