A pensioner is proving that age is no barrier are he prepares to jump out of a plane to help find a cure for brain tumours.
Bill Corner, 76, will take a leap of faith from an eye-watering 10,000ft as he braves a tandem skydive tomorrow (Saturday 15th June). He’ll be soaring through the air over Chatteris Airfield in Cambridge as his most recent fundraising endeavour for Brain Tumour Research.
The septuagenarian’s challenge is in memory of his wife, Sue, who died from a brain tumour in October 2020.
Sue (pictured top with Bill) was diagnosed with a glioblastoma (GBM) in November 2019, after she felt peculiar whilst driving to pick up her grandchildren. She had radiotherapy and chemotherapy, but sadly passed away just 11 months after her diagnosis, aged 72.
Bill (pictured below visiting Brain Tumour Research HQ) said: “Sue and I got back together 25 years ago, having first dated four decades before. Sue was a beautiful person, caring, with a beautiful smile. Losing her has been hard but I have kept her spirit alive through fundraising for Brain Tumour Research.”
Bill has already raised more than £2,600, including by taking part in our Walk of Hope in Milton Keynes last September, and last weekend he topped up his total by hosting a stall at a village fete.
He added: “I know Sue would be proud of everything I have done in her honour so that we are closer to finding a cure for all types of brain tumours.”
