New nationwide MDTs for paediatric brain tumours

1 min read

NHS England has revealed new plans for improving care for certain types of children’s brain tumours via National Multi-Disciplinary Teams (MDTs).

The latest digital technologies will be used to allow clinicians from across England’s neurosurgical centres and children’s cancer networks to share best practice and quickly get the views of colleagues on how best to treat complex or unusual cases.

To begin, the new National MDTs will meet virtually to discuss treatment plans for all paediatric patients with ependymoma, craniopharyngioma, hypothalamic region tumours and rare tumours.
