As coronavirus restrictions continue to be eased across the UK, the Fundraising Regulator and the Chartered Institute of Fundraising have published guidance covering in-person events and cash collections.
Both pieces of guidance, one covering events and community fundraising activities and the other focusing on cash collections, are aimed at helping charities in line with latest government rules and provide a framework to plan community fundraising activities, including social distancing requirements, conducting risk assessments and capacity limits.
Jason Rigby, Director of Fundraising at Brain Tumour Research, commented: “We are thrilled at the way our supporters have responded to the restrictions that have been placed on them and our move to a more digitally focused approach has been a success.
“However, we know that our community is keen to return to in-person events and we look forward to helping our fundraisers in England with limited outdoor community and fundraising events with some indoor charity fundraising events able to return at stage three (no earlier than 17th May). We await further updates on the situation in Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales.
“The need for fundraising to support our vital work pre-dates the pandemic and is now as urgent as ever as we take these new steps. My sincerest thanks to our magnificent fundraising community for what they have done, are doing and will do in the future.”
