Our Community Fundraiser is preparing to take on a gruelling challenge to fundraise for Brain Tumour Research.
Kerry Wilson joined the charity in September 2022 and supports our amazing fundraisers in Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire. Now, she is putting herself to the test and taking on the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge to raise vital funds and awareness to help find a cure for brain tumours.
The challenge will see Kerry walk a total of 24.5 miles to summit Whernside, Ingleborough and Pen-y-ghent in the Yorkshire Dales National Park in less than 12 hours. She’ll be hiking alongside supporters affected by this devastating disease.
They include the family of Mick Bradley, who died of a glioblastoma (GBM) in September. His daughter, Amy, is taking on the challenge for a second time, having raised more than £8,000 when she completed it last year alongside her sister Megan and their close friends, Izzy Limb, Ashleigh Lamb and Tiffany Green.
Kerry (pictured in pink t-shirt, with Megan, Amy and their mum Tracey) said: “I am part of a walking group, but this is going to be a big challenge. I’m a little apprehensive, but really looking forward to testing myself for such an important cause.
“I am so inspired every day by the patients and families that I work with, including the Bradley family who have been so remarkable in their commitment to fundraising for Brain Tumour Research. Brain tumours kill more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer, but this devastating disease remains woefully underfunded. I’m proud to be doing my part to support the charity’s vital work to find a cure.”
