A supporter has this week received an award in recognition of her fundraising for Brain Tumour Research after losing her mum to the disease.
Heidi Clevett won the Pamodzi Creatives Inspirational Women of Portsmouth Awards 2022 in the category STEM. The award recognised her fundraising for Brain Tumour Research and the nomination stated that Heidi “shows the world that the darkest days can be turned into the most positive of futures”.
In April, Heidi will take on an epic challenge which will see her walk the Isle of Wight coast in memory of her mother, Elaine, who died on 1st December 2021, just four months after she was diagnosed with a glioblastoma multiforme (GBM). She is aiming to complete the 106km distance in 24 hours and has already raised more than £5,500.
After receiving the award, Heidi wrote on her Instagram page: “I am so shocked and honoured to have won an award at the @pamodzi_creatives Inspirational Women of Portsmouth Awards!!!! It was such a fun night amongst so many inspiring, strong, incredible women. Listening to all the nominations was unbelievably moving and I was just so honoured to even be there! The last few years have been so difficult for us all, but particularly for anyone who has lost someone during this time...I am glad to be able to make something positive come of such a sad and difficult time. #formymama ❤”
