Author, DJ, and television presenter Pete Waterman OBE is recognised as one of the most influential and prolific music moguls of a generation. With more than 100 Top 40 UK hits to his name, Pete is perhaps best known as one third of the hugely successful music production and song-writing partnership, Stock Aitken Waterman and for his world-famous PWL label which celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2024.
Pete has sold more than 500 million records worldwide and has worked with a who’s who of artists across the music spectrum including Kylie Minogue, Donna Summer, Rick Astley, Paul McCartney, John Travolta, The Specials, Cliff Richard, Bananarama and Steps.
Alongside music, railways are another of Pete’s life-long passions. An avid collector of model trains, Pete has an encyclopaedic knowledge of the UK rail industry.
After receiving Honorary Doctorates from Coventry University (2001) and the University of Liverpool (2004), Pete was awarded an OBE in the 2005 Queen’s New Year’s Honours for services to the music industry.
Pete lost his son Paul to a brain tumour on January 3, 2005, at the age of 33, just six months after he was diagnosed. A high-profile supporter of Brain Tumour Research, Pete has campaigned with us to increase the national investment, stood with us in solidarity by lighting a candle for our #ShineALight campaign and has also taken part in Wear A Hat Day during Brain Tumour Awareness Month.
Twenty years on from the loss of his son, Pete is incredibly proud to join us as Patron and joins our fight to find a cure with a passionate belief that we have to do better to stop the devastation caused by this disease.
