The 2022 International Brain Tumour Awareness Week is taking place from today.
Now in its 16th year, this special week is championed by the International Brain Tumour Alliance (IBTA). It is a celebration of awareness-raising activities in which the international brain tumour community unites to draw attention to the challenges of brain tumours and the need for an increased research effort.
From sharing your story, posting on social media, and fundraising to support research, any activity – no matter how small – to raise vital awareness of this disease and the need for a special response is greatly appreciated.
IBTA’s 2022 Brilliance! virtual exhibition – which celebrates the creativity of the global brain tumour community – is also available for online viewing during International Brain Tumour Awareness Week.
Kathy Oliver, Founding Co-Director and Chair at IBTA, said: “This week is for everyone who has been impacted by a brain tumour. It is for anyone who hopes to see better outcomes for those diagnosed with this awful disease and – on a personal front – it is for Colin, my son who was diagnosed with a brain tumour in 2004 at age 24 and passed away, aged 32, in August 2011. I hope you are able to support our week.”
More information, ideas for how to get involved and an Awareness Week Toolkit, can be found on IBTA’s website: https://theibta.org/awareness-raising/ibtaw-toolkit/
