Today (Saturday 19th October) at 1:30pm, hundreds of incredible fundraisers will be heading to Luton’s Wardown Park for the rescheduled Brain Tumour Research Walk of Hope 2024.
More than just a fundraising event, the Walk of Hope is a movement of compassion, determination, and change. Each step you take today will bring us closer to a cure for all types of brain tumours – which tragically claim the lives of more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other type of cancer.
Your efforts today will help fund vital research happening across the UK, as well as raising awareness of the devastating impact that brain tumours have on patients and their loved ones. With every step, you will be bringing them hope.
Whether you’re walking 1km or 5km, making strides alone or with friends, we want to wish you good luck!
Bereaved parents Yasmin and Khuram started the Luton Walk of Hope four years ago for their daughter, Amani Liaquat. Amani was diagnosed with a glioblastoma (GBM) and passed away in February 2022, having been a fierce campaigner for Brain Tumour Research.
Her mother, Yasmin, said: “We walk in hope for a better future where a brain tumour diagnosis doesn't have to be a life sentence, and we can provide more effective treatment options in the UK. But this is only possible with increased funding, the lack of which meant our daughter asked the question: ‘does my life not matter?'
“The Walk of Hope is a way of standing with and for those affected by the disease, and keeping Amani’s memory alive.”
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your support. We can’t wait to see the difference you’ll make.
