Today, we’re delighted to wish a very happy birthday to our wonderful Patron, Alfie Boe OBE.
Known as the nation’s favourite tenor, Alfie always asks his army of devoted fans to donate to charity for his birthday, as opposed to sending him cards or gifts. This year, the Alfie Boe Official Fan Group are raising money to help find a cure for brain tumours and so far, their JustGiving page has already raised more than £2,400.
A post on the group’s Instagram page said: “Thank you in advance for supporting this year’s fundraiser and hopefully together we can raise a fantastic amount for Brain Tumour Research, a charity very close to Alfie’s heart.”
In addition to his stunning performances on some of the world’s most prestigious stages, Alfie has a deeply personal connection to our cause.
After losing his father Alfred to an aggressive brain tumour in 1997, Alfie joined us as a Patron in May 2024 – bringing his influence and voice to our shared mission.
Alfie’s commitment was evident during Brain Tumour Awareness Month, when he supported our #ShineALight and Wear A Hat Day campaigns. He even rallied support during his recent 18-date UK tour, which saw generous concertgoers donate £16,000 to Brain Tumour Research.
Happy birthday, Alfie – and thank you for your unwavering support!
If you would like to continue the important work Alfie cares so deeply about, you can donate to fund vital research through the Alfie Boe Fan Group’s JustGiving page here.
