A woman who is undergoing chemotherapy treatment for a glioblastoma (GBM) is set to run a half marathon this weekend to raise vital funds for Brain Tumour Research.
Hannah King-Page was diagnosed with a GBM in 2020 after she kept her seizures a secret for three months. A seizure at work forced Hannah to get checked out and a scan showed a mass on her brain. She is currently undergoing gruelling chemotherapy treatment which she describes as feeling “like you have a constant hangover which you can’t shake”.
But this unstoppable fundraiser isn’t letting that hold her back. Hannah is lacing her trainers to tackle the Solihull Half Marathon this Sunday, alongside her friend Ranjit Matharu.
Although no stranger to running, having completed an impressive 340km since January, this will be the first time Hannah has taken on an epic run during treatment.
Hannah said: “Since joining Balsall Common Run Club I have been welcomed by a community of encouraging and like-minded people and bonded with a member who was also diagnosed with a brain tumour. I am determined to do the best I can in raising awareness to keep the conversation going around the need for more funding for research.”
“The last half marathon I ran I was in between treatment and so I was pleased to get around the course, this time I would love to complete the race a couple of minutes quicker.”
