Family facing second Christmas in isolation

A family preparing to spend their second Christmas in isolation is raising awareness of brain tumours.

The Priddy family has been shielding since dad Greg, 45, received his shock diagnosis with a rare primary brain CNS lymphoma (PCNSL) in November 2020. By the time Christmas comes around, Greg, along with his wife Jo and children Amelia, 16, and William, 13, will have been shielding for 55 weeks.

To stay busy whilst in lockdown, the family has undertaken a number of fundraising challenges. William has raised more than £13,000 for Brain Tumour Research with his back garden running challenges. He is currently doing an advent run, completing four miles wearing a different festive costume every day in the run up to Christmas. Amelia has also raised funds, choreographing dances for our 20 for 20 challenge and selling homemade resin keyrings.

Working with the charity to share their story, The Priddys were interviewed on Sky News and William shared how he wanted to raise awareness so “everyone in the world knows how bad brain tumours are”. Watch the interview here.

Jo said: “Christmas will be yet another occasion we won’t be able to spend with friends or family but we’ll make it as fun as we can. Obviously the most important thing is that Greg’s safe and hopefully next year we’ll be able to start getting some of our freedom back, the sorts of things most people take for granted like being able to pop to the shops or send the kids to school.”
