Celebrities and supporters pay tribute to Tom Parker

Ed Sheeran has led the music industry in sending “thoughts and love” to Tom Parker’s family, following the death of The Wanted singer at the age of 33.

Tom’s wife Kelsey announced yesterday (Wednesday) that her beloved husband had died surrounded by close friends and family, 17 months after announcing he had been diagnosed with a glioblastoma multiforme (GBM).

Sheeran wrote on Instagram: “So sad to hear of Tom’s passing. Thoughts and love are with Kelsey, his children and his family. Very sad day, what a lovely guy.”

Among the many other tributes from the music world, was a tweet from JJ Hamblett of boy band Union J, who wrote: “Just seen the news…I am speechless!!! Tom Parker was such a nice guy who was an incredible artist and real family man! ❤️ Such a cruel, cruel world 😢 RIP Tom... you will be missed but never never forgotten 💔.”

Actor and musician Martin Kemp, who has been treated for a brain tumour himself, tweeted: “Tom Parker, rest in peace my love goes out to all your family and all your friends... your bravery, your fight and your spirit will never be forgotten.”

Howard Donald, of Take That sent his condolences to Kelsey and their two children.

He said on Twitter: “So young and so sad. RIP @TomParker from @thewanted. Strength and love to his family.”

The actress and singer Kym Marsh tweeted: “So so sad to hear the news of Tom Parker’s passing. A lovely young man with a young family and everything to live for. Sending love and prayers to his family and friends xx RIP xx”

Brain Tumour Research supporters have also been sharing their shock and sadness at Tom’s death. Khuram Liaquat, who welcomed Tom into his home to visit his daughter Amani before she died from a GBM, wrote on Twitter: “Tom Parker from The Wanted visited us for his cancer docu. He recorded a podcast with Amani where they shared their journey as brain cancer sufferers. He was kind & humble and stayed in touch with Amani. So sad to hear he also lost his cancer battle today. Miss you Tom & Amani”.
