A Brain Tumour Research supporter and personal trainer, who was awarded an MBE last year, has received the honour at Windsor Castle.
Lavina Mehta MBE was recognised for her services to health and fitness during the COVID-19 pandemic in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list in October 2020. Due to the pandemic, she was unable to formally receive the award until last week, when she was presented with her medal by Princess Anne.
Lavina said she felt “very blessed and honoured” to receive the MBE.
In February, Lavina took part in our 10,000 Steps a Day in February Challenge and raised more than £2,300 to support our vital work. Using her expertise as a professional personal trainer, she also supported others taking part in the challenge sharing fitness tips, workouts and stretches in the Facebook Group.
She said: “Brain Tumour Research is a very important cause to me. My father-in-law, Papa, was an incredible man. We lost him seven years ago and on 16th February it would have been his 75th birthday. To mark the occasion, I provided a free live fundraising workout for all the 10,000 Steps Challenge participants and across my social media platforms with my mother-in-law, husband and son."
We will be sharing an exciting update on our 10,000 Steps a Day in February Challenge next week. Follow our Facebook page here to be amongst the first to find out more.
