The All-Party Parliamentary Group on Brain Tumours (APPGBT), for which Brain Tumour Research provides the secretariat, meets this morning.
Derek Thomas MP (pictured) will chair the meeting, which will see MPs and Peers in attendance discuss a varied agenda.
Brain Tumour Research is proud to be leading the Pathway to a Cure inquiry, which was launched at a meeting of the APPGBT in July 2021. Our Chief Executive, Sue Farrington Smith MBE, will provide an update on the inquiry following written evidence collation from those involved in clinical and lab-based research and oral evidence sessions involving funders, clinicians and scientists.
Other topics discussed will include Parliamentary Questions (PQs) – a vital piece of the political ‘toolkit’ for the charity – and our Head of Stakeholder Relations, Hugh Adams, will report on the last 18 months of questions and answers at Westminster and focus on what has happened in early 2022.
The Brain Tumour Charity will also present some of the latest national results from its Improving Brain Tumour Care surveys, launched in late 2020, which identify some of the significant gaps and variations in NHS care.
An update from the meeting will follow this afternoon and you can keep abreast of proceedings by following #APPGBT on Twitter today.
