New for 2023, our beautiful repeat-flowering Rose for Hope has deep yellow flowers which will add a pop of brightness to any garden or outdoor space. It is being sold in a pink pot and a minimum £1 from the sale of each plant, which is being stocked at selected garden centres, will be donated to Brain Tumour Research.

The rose fields in Lincolnshire

The rose was launched during Brain Tumour Awareness Month at Burston Garden Centre in St Albans, where landscape gardener Shay Emerton and TV gardener Danny Clarke teamed up for this new initiative.

Shay, 24, was diagnosed with a grade 2 glioma two years ago after suffering a seizure whilst playing football and going into respiratory arrest. At the launch, Shay spoke about his incredible story and long road to recovery, which included overcoming temporary paralysis following surgery to remove the tumour.

He said: “It was an absolute pleasure to meet Danny and we are all very grateful to him for agreeing to be involved in this project. We hope the roses will raise lots of much-needed funds for Brain Tumour Research and bring joy to people’s gardens.”

Danny, the Black Gardener who shot to fame in 2015 as BBC’s Instant Gardener, is a longstanding supporter of Brain Tumour Research having lost his sister Margot McLellan to a glioblastoma (GBM).

“Brain tumours can steal a person long before their body finally gives up. It felt like Margot spent a long time between life and death and seeing that slow, drawn out and inevitable decline was awful. There was never a chance she might recover and there was no dignity in her deterioration,” Danny said. “I don’t want other families to have to go through that and know the key lies in research.”

A minimum of £1 will be donated per sale
