The parents of a toddler who died less than a year after being diagnosed with an aggressive brain tumour have launched a Fundraising Group to ensure he leaves a lasting legacy.
Albie Bayliss-Watts was just two years old when he died in November 2021. Having dedicated the last year of their lives to caring for Albie through gruelling surgeries and chemotherapy, his heartbroken parents, Lauren and Hayley, have now set up Albie and Beyond, a Fundraising Group raising vital funds and awareness to help find a cure in their beloved son’s name.
Lauren said: “During his short life, Albie touched so many people’s hearts and filled our world with nothing but pure joy. Hayley and I are now dedicated to exploring ways to keep Albie’s memory alive by continuing to support research into brain tumours, in the hope that no other family will have to suffer like us.”
“It’s heart-warming to have such incredible support from our families, friends and the local community and we’re really proud that we have already raised more than £10,000 for Brain Tumour Research in Albie’s memory.”
This Friday, Hayley is hosting a Wear A Hat Day event at The Royal Oak pub in Didcot, where she works as pub manager, and has encourage her colleagues at 14 other Oxfordshire pubs to take part too. As well as inviting all patrons and staff to wear a hat and make a donation, Hayley’s plans include a coffee morning, a raffle and a disco with karaoke, along with a hat competition.
She said: “It’s going to be a really fun-packed day, with Albie’s childminder coming in during the afternoon with a group of children wearing hats they have made.”
