There are now just a matter of days for us to reach 100,000 signatures on our petition calling for increased national investment into brain tumour research to £35 million a year.
Many of those backing our petition have a very personal reason for doing so, whether they have been diagnosed with a brain tumour or have lost a loved one to this devastating disease.
Amongst those urging people to sign the petition are Penny and Wayne Church who spoke to BBC Midlands Today and BBC Radio Hereford & Worcester about the need for more investment. The family is supporting the petition after the tragic loss of their 11-year-old son, Finlay, to a glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) 17 months after he was diagnosed with the disease.
Gary Fordham captured the attention of the nation last December when he shared his brain tumour diagnosis and his search for the heroes who saved his family after a nightmare motorway crash. Now, Gary is working with Brain Tumour Research to support the petition, sharing his story in the Telegraph & Argus, Bradford Zone and on BBC Radio Leeds.
Also working closely with the charity after his brain tumour diagnosis is Sam Suriakumar, who was diagnosed with a glioma in February 2020 after collapsing on his commute home from work. His story was in Asian Image, This Is Local London and Your Local Guardian.
More than 80,000 people have now signed, but we still need your help. Please sign and share the petition as widely as you can and help us reach 100,000 signatures before the end of February.
