George Fox, known to many as ‘Gorgeous George’, will be laid to rest today.
George died at home with his loving family by his side on Tuesday 12th April. He was just 13. Announcing the tragic news, his mum Louise said: “We are heartbroken, and always will be.”
The funeral is taking place near the family’s Bedfordshire home at 4:30pm this afternoon with guests asked to wear a ‘touch of red’ to commemorate George’s love for Arsenal FC.
Knowing that George’s story has touched many in the brain tumour community and beyond, his family is inviting those who wish to pay their respects to watch the service online.
Writing on Facebook, George’s mum Louise said: “As a parent, to even contemplate planning your child’s funeral is so painful beyond belief. But we hope that we will do him proud and have chosen a service with songs and words that will be fitting for the amazing young man that he is. We are trying our very hardest not to talk about George in the past tense, as it’s too painful and we want to believe that he is always with us.
“You have all been on this journey with us, and in an ideal world we would love to put out a public invite/notice of George’s service so everyone could join us. However, the space is very limited in the crematorium and our worry is that his closest friends and family wouldn’t get to say their precious goodbyes.
“To make sure that everyone gets to pay their respects we have shared below the online link so that you can join if you wish, and watch the tributes with us from home.”

Following George’s diagnosis, his family became passionate supporters of Brain Tumour Research and campaigners for more funding for vital research. We are truly grateful that in continuing his legacy, they are asking for donations to the charity in place of flowers.
